GHANA JOBS TECHNICAL SERVICE
A leading provider of IT Infrastructure service solutions for medium and large scale private and public institutions. The company has developed a reputation for delivery of cost-effective solutions for its clients in the mining, energy, banking and services sectors. The company is experiencing growth and is embarking on developing new products and services for its clients and in support of this, is seeking the following positions:
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises technical staff that are responsible for SLA and other areas of technical operations. Assigns and coordinates work assignments and resolution of critical technical and procedural problems.
Ensures acceptable levels of performance within the technical Team. This task involves a high degree of technical knowledge and effective management procedures within the Technical Services Team.
Conducts capacity planning. Develops procedures to measure the performance of the Team members
Manages department budgeting activities.
Works with HR for training and development of the technical Team.
Maintains technical and operational documentation on processes and procedures of the department.
Develops plans, procedures, and activities to support business recovery when problems occur including backup and restoration procedures, vendor agreements, spare parts, data retention, and restoration planning.
Stays current with technological developments related to computer hardware, software, and networks, as well as management practices which involves reading publications, subscribing to Internet lists, attending conferences and workshops, and meeting with other Industry players to stay up to date.
Working hours
8:30 – 5:30 …… But Due to the nature of the work, you may be expected to work shifts or be on call and it may be necessary to work extra hours to finish a job.
What to expect
There is often pressure to work as fast as possible to deal with problems and achieve immediate results in all situations, either to ensure the minimum loss of manufacturing or customer-contact time, or to enable members of staff to use their computer again.
Considerable client contact is usually required.
If you have responsibility for hardware or networks, you may have to lift and carry equipment and stretch to access items in awkward places. The dress code tends to be casual, reflecting the physical nature of the work, but you are typically expected to maintain a reasonable standard of smartness.
Travel within a working day is sometimes needed and may be required at short notice.
Overnight absence from home may be necessary and overseas travel is only occasionally required.
Required Skills or Experience
A minimum of a degree in information Technology, Computer service or any related field business information technology. The following subjects may improve your chances of getting the job:

computer science
information technology
internet engineering
Software engineering.
Five-to-eight(5-8) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in supporting/managing complex networked systems and an enterprise data center environment. At least Four years of technical experience must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.
An in-depth knowledge and or plus the following Certifications will be an advantage;
Cisco -CCNA/CCIE/CCDA,
Microsoft – MCSE,
VMware – VCP/VSP/VSTP
Oracle (databases)

Other equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge of: Novell, HP-UX, Windows, and Linux servers and network operating systems; wide area networks, telephone systems, internet services, web services, microcomputers and other hardware and a variety of software;
Budget and other financial documents to maximize department resources and maintain control over expenditures; principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
Ability to: Manage large complex projects and teams; manage institutional budgeting and purchasing activities for technology procurement; develop and recommend strategic and tactical plans for the delivery of technical services to the college; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; analyze and problem solve a variety of highly technical issues; effectively negotiate/influence others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel at all levels.
