GHANA JOBS Materials Engineer
Role Profile
Selected candidate will be responsible for conducting or supervising tests on raw materials or finished products in order to ensure their quality.
He/She will be responsible for reviewing new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and direct the testing and/or control of processing procedures.
Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials.
Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives.
Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine the causes of problems and develop solutions.
Plan and implement laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards.
Guide technical staff engaged in developing materials for specific uses in projected products or devices.
Helping to ensure that products comply with national and international legal and quality standards
Required Skills or Experience
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Material engineering preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
REQUIREMENT
Computer Skills-Must be efficient in Micro-soft Word and Excel.
Communication Skills – Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Skill in reading and interpreting plans and specifications to compare them with construction in progress.
The ability to work as part of a team as well as to take individual responsibility and make decisions
The ability to priorities and plan effectively
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Excellent knowledge of math’s and science and IT skills
The ability to apply scientific reasoning to industrial situations
